Both have the artist/producer thing going on. Gnarls Barkley became a duo after both having successful careers. The cool kids became a pair after meeting each other on myspace. Odd right? You can decide who makes the odder couple though.

So they both can make music that you cant fit in a box. Because they aren't the regular artists you'd find in the box. While soulja boy and 50 cent would be squished in the box of posers,these two would be on the outside dropping out of college and seeing sounds. :-) But kanye west wont settle for hit records he wants to be on top of the fashion game. He also wants his videos to break the mold. But Pharrell has been in the picture a little longer. He's not as outspoken as kanye. But you cant help but notice him. many would compare but no one has dared say who was better.
